# Algebra 2 A

**Scope:
**The course curriculum is aligned with the Common Core Mathematics State Standards that have been adopted by the State of Michigan together with other forty states in the US for high-quality Grades 6-12 math education.

**Objective**:

Algebra 2 is a rigorous high school algebra course. This course covers the same (or more) topics as the Algebra 2 Honors course offered in high schools. Algebra 2 is a one-year course (Algebra 2 A in the fall semester and Algebra 2 B in the spring semester). Algebra 2 A covers the first-semester content of the course.

**For current 9 ^{th }graders or below**, this course can prepare

**testing out**high school math courses and future math contests.

**For current 10**, this course can enhance math learning at the grade level for

^{th }graders or above**state standard tests**and subsequent STEM courses.

The course content includes the real number system, linear equations and inequalities, graphing, quadratic equations, functions, systems of equations, arithmetic and geometric sequences and series, operations with polynomials, powers, roots, irrational and complex numbers, radicals, exponentials and logarithms, rational expressions, introduction to trigonometry, statistics and data analysis, and probability.

**Prerequisite**:

This course is suitable for students who have mastered the mathematics in Algebra 1 and in Geometry. This group often includes students who are in grade 8, 9, 10, or 11 in fall 2021.

**Textbook**:

This course covers topics in the textbook in two semesters. We will email you the textbook info when sufficient enrollment is reached.

**Schedule**:

Class will meet once a week on each Sunday 1 pm-2:30 pm ET from 09/05/2021 to 12/19/2021 (except for the Thanksgiving week, 15 meetings in total): 09/05, 09/12, 09/19, 09/26, 10/03, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/07, 11/14, 11/21, 12/05, 12/12, 12/19/2021 Tentatively weekly quizzes plus simulated tests in the fall semester.

Small class for maximized individual attention: 5-10 students

ONLINE INSTRUCTION USING ZOOM IN A FACE-TO-FACE LIVE FASHION! Syllabus and coursework will be distributed in the course Curriculum section (course registration is required).

**Tuition: $330 ($22 per 1.5-hour class) non-refundable after first class.**

Schedule: Sundays 1 pm-2:30 pm ET (09/05-12/19/2021).
