Summer Bridge Math (Prealgebra 1)

This course is suitable for students who would like to enhance their learning in the middle school Prealgebra course, usually in grades 6 and 7. It helps students prevent the summer math learning loss and ensures a smooth transition from Prealgebra 1 to Prealgebra 2. The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive and in-depth coverage of Prealgebra 1 (equivalent to the grade 6 Prealgebra 1 Honors course) and a strong head start for Prealgebra 2 (equivalent to the grade 7 Prealgebra 2 Honors course).
Goals and Strategies:

Review key Prealgebra 1 topics including
prime factorization, greatest common factor, and least common multiple.
operations on decimals and fractions.
simplifying expressions.
area of parallelogram, triangle and trapezoid.
solving percent problems.
absolute value and coordinate plane.
solving equations and inequalities, etc. -
Learn key Prealgebra 2 topics such as surface area and volume of prisms and pyramids, etc.
Class will meet online once a week for eight weeks from June 20, 2021-August 15, 2021
ONLINE INSTRUCTION USING ZOOM IN A FACE-TO-FACE LIVE FASHION! Syllabus and coursework will be distributed in the course Curriculum section (course registration is required).
Tuition: $160 ($20 per 1.5-hour lecture) non-refundable after first class.
